I have been offering illustration and animated explainer videos since 1998. I have been developing customised graphic recording formats for events, conferences and workshops for my clients since 2002. I believe, with professional images you can communicate more directly, more vividly and more clearly.
I’ve been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil. I really enjoy it and have developed an understanding of how to translate visual and life experience into pictures. This motivates me every day and keeps me creative and challenged. Openness and curiosity help. It creates a space where learning is possible – both in terms of content and craftsmanship.
I can focus clearly and I have a feel for relevance. This allows me to make good creative decisions.
I enjoy playing and have the courage to experiment. That’s why I’m own passionate projects, to test and learn from them. With humour as a bottom line it comes lightness, from which charming, mostly colourful ideas bubble up. I can also draw the dark.
My sources of inspiration are diverse: graphics, typography, film, art, design (50s & 60s), old comics & new graphic novels, music & pop culture inspire me. I’m learning a new language, planting trees and harvesting my own vegetables. Time stands still when I’m digging in the ground. I love cats. And picture series. During the pandemia i started a visual diary. Quarantine Days helped me to reflect the madness caused by a little virus. Since 2025 it has it’s own website: quarantinedays.eu. It was great fun to create the typ-o-cat series with over 80 motifs. First on Instagram. now with it’s own web space: typ-o-cat.com
studio animanova is a freelance one-man business. There are no employees and I enjoy working with my global network of experts. As I travel a lot, I am unfortunately unable to offer internships. For young talents who already have some professional experience, I offer one year of individual coaching as a mentor. The application period is from September 15 to October 15 each year by email.
